Early February 2016, while on a night dive in Puget Sound, I was extremely fortunate to have an extended encounter with three very large Harbor Seals. They can see divers and detect their presence from a safe distance in the pitch black waters of the night. Many have probably seen me, but I've only been fortunate enough to see a few in my years of diving.
These large beautiful and graceful creatures are so interesting to watch and record. They quietly glide through the water until they quickly snatch their prey with ease. Since completing the dive, I've have the opportunity to learn a great deal about Harbor Seals. As with all my work, I hope my latest video, 'Predators in the Dark', will help others learn about and gain a greater respect for these animals. I have created two files of the video, one for iPad and iPhone, the larger for full HD presentation.
Puget Sound is home to a wide variety of interesting and amazing life. Harbor Seals are an integral part of that variety. Our natural resources are limited and under stress. To sustain and support all the life that exists here, we all must work to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
Start of a Great Year - 2016
2016 begins my third year in business. Displaying and selling my 'Ready to Hang', Fine Art Giclée Prints on metal, canvas and acrylic at art shows and exhibits has been quite a success. The first major events of 2016 begin as early as April. Dates, times and locations will be posted as time grows near. In the meantime if you would like to purchase any of my art, please visit my online store.
In January Bluewater Photo in LA published a short article on my business: Made in Puget Sound Artist Profile. This article delves into how and why I began my business. In less than two years It has grown in popularity and importance. Other articles also include: An 8-Arm Camera Thief.
With the increased popularity of my unique and beautiful artwork, I've been asked to speak more and more at local photography and dive clubs. In January I was honored to give a 45 minute presentation on my Underwater Photography of Puget Sound. The Olympia Camera Club is an active organization educating and supporting the development of local photographers. I'm looking forward to my next talk on photography.
